At this point, it’s been beaten into your brain by every media outlet around (guilty as charged) that purple is the color you absolutely must incorporate into your beauty wardrobe this fall or risk being cast out as a total style pariah. I’ve committed to a gothic purple lip courtesy of Make Up For Ever’s Rouge Artist and even added a new Vanessa Bruno aubergine sweater dress into my chunky knits collection for the cooler weather that’s coming our way. An inspiring nail iteration of the trend still eludes me, though. Straight-up purple nail lacquers abound, but I’d prefer a polish that whispers, rather than screams “violet.” Perfect Formula’s art-inspired new seasonal color range, which bows this week, has two worthy, and rather unlikely, contenders. Futurist is a gray-tinted lavender, while Post Modern is a cross between fuchsia and bubblegum pink. Each one feels like it complements rather than precisely mirrors the season’s rich hues. If you’re planning on going for bold, though, Sephora has you covered with Just a Little Dangerous, a rich grape varnish from its collab with OPI that has a slight undertone of pink shimmer. The beauty giant has also devised a purple smoky eye palette should you want to make the regal shade a full-face affair.
